GENRAL MEETING – OSRDF held both its regular board meeting of April 2, 2017 at Crestwood Secondary School in Peterborough, just prior to the Spring Spree dance. The Treasurer advised that the Federation experienced a net loss for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017 of $2,230 but the balance sheet still showed a healthy balance due to profits remaining from the 2008 National Festival held in London. A total of $900 was awarded in recruitment bursaries to 5 clubs. The Federation approved $1,200 in bursaries for 3 callers to attend caller school pending receipt of proof of attendance and receipts. The Board approved a change in the Travel Policy to permit board members to claim expenses for attending two Federation board meetings annually, rather than the current policy of one meeting per year.
AGM – Following the regular board meeting, dancers were invited to the Federation’s Annual General Meeting and a number of guests participated. They were given a brief overview of the current financial status –The Treasurer also advised that overall membership was down slightly from 2690 in 2016 to 2650 as of March 31, 2017. The Society reps advised the Society’s AGM will be held in Cornwall at the end of August in conjunction with the Summer Magic weekend. As the caller bursary application process is a complicated one, it was suggested that those running caller/cuer training courses advise participants on how to apply for bursaries. A good explanation of the 3-step process can also be found on the Federation web site.
